Asha is launching a Futuremakers endowment fund campaign to ensure a sustainable and positive future for people in the slums of Delhi. The capital raised will ensure a solid financial foundation for Asha, which will guarantee the future impact of proven transformational programmes. We are now looking for visionary people to make the first foundational gifts and to join a global campaign committee to enable us reach our target of $10 million. These funds would be held in trust and the interest would allow us to cover core costs in perpetuity.
Asha has been transforming lives in the slums of Delhi for more than 28 years. We have a strong track record of community engagement and transformation. Our vision is that everyone in the slums of Delhi will have access to healthcare, education, finance and a safe and healthy environment. And that every child will fulfill their potential.

Our vision is that everyone in the slums of Delhi will have access to healthcare, education, finance and a safe and healthy environment. And that every child will fulfill their potential.
Our track record to-date includes:
100% of Asha children between 6-10 years of age, are attending primary school in areas where Asha has been working for over 5 years. Of these, 70% go on to secondary school. 1750 students have now enrolled in different colleges under Delhi University and many others have gone on to study professional courses in polytechnic colleges. In addition, another 100 have gained professional work experience through internships.
100% of children under five years of age in Asha slums have been immunised against 10 vaccine preventable illnesses. 92% of children under five years of age are healthy. There was not a single death due to diarrhoea or measles in the past 3 years. And there have been no reports of polio, diphtheria, pertussis, or neonatal tetanus in the past 5 years. There have been no maternal deaths for the past 5 years in Asha slums. 100% of pregnant women at Asha have received regular antenatal care. 99% of births were live births and 100% of deliveries were conducted by trained health staff. This compares extremely favourably with 73% live births in Indian hospitals and 27% with trained community mid-wives elsewhere in India. 100% of new born babies were breast fed within the first 6 hours of birth.
In slums that Asha has been working in for longer than 5 years, 94% of Asha families have at least one member with a bank account. 3,687 loans have been given for businesses, vehicles, home improvement, and education. The loan repayment rate is 95-99%.
Collaboration with the Government of Delhi has resulted in thousands of slum residents now having land titles and permanent homes. In 2015/16 alone, 110 toilets and 140 street lights were repaired, 87 water taps were installed, 10 drainage systems were repaired, new concrete pathways were laid, and a new park constructed in a slum.
Your help will enable us to sustain our ability to transform lives in perpetuity.
