Asha offers different ways for non-Hindi speaking volunteers to get involved based on length of stay, interests and skill sets:
- Conduct training workshops for community member groups or project staff related to healthcare, empowerment, education, finances or the environment. Examples include local business practices and study techniques for college students.
- Beautify an Asha slum Community Center.
- Fundraise for and organize an environmental initiative such as a slum area cleanup.
“Visiting Asha and meeting the children has been absolutely remarkable. I see enormous hope for them in the future. Looking at Asha’s healthcare programme, there isn’t any infant death and children aren’t malnourished any more. But the best part is, Asha has made the children believe that it is possible to dream of being educated and have a career. I believe the Asha team is incredible and you are not imposing anything in the community, rather letting the community find its own strength.”
